A convicted murderer, John Keith, escapes and is pursued by Sergeant Conniston of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. After a two-year chase, Conniston is near death from the cold when Keith rescues him. Before passing out, Keith convinces Conniston of his innocence, and the dying Mountie asks Keith to wear his uniform and pretend to be him to clear his name at River's End.
