A German supply ship carrying work horses sets sail for Africa in 1914, but the journey takes an unexpected turn when a mare gives birth to a foal. The colt faces challenges as he's separated from his mother and struggles to adapt in a mining community. A young orphaned boy from a nearby stable takes pity on the pony and cares for him. As war erupts, the stable is abandoned, and the pony escapes into the desert, where he forms an unlikely bond with an Oryx antelope and a native girl, learning to survive on his own.
