In a remote Alberta farmhouse, a charismatic DJ operates a popular pirate radio station, but his artistic vision is threatened by the expectations of his devoted fan and producer, who push him to conform to mainstream tastes.

Mike Mallard, a charismatic rock DJ, broadcasts his show from a secluded farmhouse, but his life is disrupted when four young travelers crash their plane nearby. One of them, Kathy, is immediately drawn to Mallard, who is struggling to maintain his artistic integrity against the demands of his producer and the music industry.
