Smilin' Through

John Carteret's life is consumed by loneliness and grief, a lingering consequence of the tragic loss of his bride Moonyean on their wedding day, years ago. He finds solace in nurturing Moonyean's orphaned niece, Kathleen, who matures into a striking resemblance of her aunt.

John Carteret, still grieving the murder of his bride Moonyean at their wedding years prior, takes in her orphaned 5-year-old niece Kathleen. As Kathleen grows up, she bears a striking resemblance to her aunt. She falls in love with American stranger Kenneth Wayne, unaware that his father Jeremy was responsible for Moonyean's death. John's deep-seated anger towards Jeremy threatens to destroy Kathleen's happiness, but ultimately he comes to terms with the past and allows his niece to pursue her love.
