South of Wawa background

South of Wawa

In the quaint town of Stayner, Ontario, three friendly waitresses infuse Joe's donut shop with warmth, serving sweet treats with a generous helping of hospitality.

Three waitresses, Lizette, Carol, and Cheryl-Ann, work at Joe's donut shop in the small town of Stayner, Ontario. Lizette, who is irresponsible and finds Cheryl-Ann annoying, asks her to be the fourth in a double date for her 35th birthday celebration at a Dan Hill concert in Toronto. The date includes Terry, Lizette's exterminator husband, and his partner Simon, who recently broke up with his fiancée. The events of the evening, which don't go as planned, lead each character to re-examine their relationships with others, including Lizette's sister Darlene and Johnny "The Polak", the enforcer for the local hockey team.
