Indira prepares dinner for her family in inner-city Sydney during the early 90's, as her husband's first job in Australia is about to expire and her in-laws are set to return to India the next day. With an infant at home and overdue rent, Indira relies on her luck to change, but when her husband reveals there was no job, and her in-laws apply pressure, Indira decides to steal cash from her mother-in-law's purse. As dinner unfolds and suspicions grow, the tension builds, and Indira must keep her deception going for as long as possible.
