A young boy from Hungary moves to America in the 1960s and struggles to adjust to the new culture and school. He discovers a radio DJ's contest and eventually wins, spending time with the DJ and learning the "cool" way of life. However, as he tries to improve his image by telling lies, he realizes that it hurts those around him and ultimately decides to accept himself for who he is, while also facing the consequences of the DJ's own dishonesty.
