In this epic tale, a group of 47 skilled samurai unite in a quest for revenge against the treacherous Kira Yoshinaka, who orchestrated the downfall of their beloved lord, Asano Naganori.

In 1701, Lord Asano's feud with Lord Kira ends in his own downfall, as he attempts to kill Kira in the Shogun's palace. Sentenced to seppuku, Lord Asano's clan is stripped of their lands and titles, while Lord Kira escapes punishment. Lord Asano's vassals abandon their lord, leaving his samurais to become ronin.
