In the midst of the 1993 Sarajevo conflict, a young girl named Selma receives a live chicken as a 6th birthday gift. As she learns the chicken's intended fate, she takes matters into her own hands to save its life and set it free, unaware of the dire consequences that follow. Her efforts to rescue the chicken put her mother in harm's way, as she becomes a target of a sniper's bullet.
