The Chorus background

The Chorus

A renowned educator uses music as a therapeutic tool to transform the lives of troubled boys at a strict boarding school.

Fond de l'Etang is a troubled boys' boarding school in rural France, where a new supervisor, M. Clément Mathieu, is hired in 1949. Mathieu, a middle-aged man struggling to find his place, clashes with the school's authoritarian principal, M. Rachin, who believes in the "action - reaction" approach. Despite this, Mathieu secretly undermines the policy and focuses on transforming the school's atmosphere through a choir project. He works with two students, Pépinot and Pierre Morhange, who have different struggles and talents. Over time, Mathieu's approach leads to positive changes, but he also faces challenges from Rachin, the students, and a new, troubled student named Pascal Mondain.
