In the late 1800s, Texas is plagued by corruption and violence under the Reconstruction administration. Two young men, Tom and Ray, flee to the Big Bend area to escape persecution. Ray, consumed by jealousy, tries to kill Tom's friend Sam Garrett, but Tom saves his life. Ray is captured and Tom is framed for the crimes.
