Steve Early, the son of an American Embassy Official, sails to America to attend West Point, despite his father's warnings that he will struggle to adapt to the new culture. Steve's initial mistakes, including arriving with pomp and circumstance, and befriending another plebe, Sonny Drew, earn him the disdain of the upperclassmen. As a plebe, Steve is bullied by Corporal Strong and struggles to fit in. However, his athletic skills on the football field and his charm with Ann Porter, the coach's daughter, earn him recognition and admiration. Despite his Honor Code violations and rule-breaking, Steve must find a way to prove himself worthy of becoming a West Point graduate.
