A corrupt cop strips Narsingh of his taxi license after an illegal car race, plunging him into poverty in Kolkata's outskirts. He's forced to work for a shady businessman, engaging in dope smuggling. Narsingh finds solace with a fellow villager and his Christian schoolteacher sister, but his attraction to her is misguided. Meanwhile, a prostitute sees through the businessman's deceit and helps Narsingh escape his troubles, but the businessman takes revenge by kidnapping her.
