A young homeless man, Lucas, is taken in by Jacques, the owner of a small New York City bar, after a suicide attempt. As Lucas settles into his new life, he begins to defy Jacques' strict rules, instead showing kindness to customers and taking in a young French woman named April who has fallen on hard times.
