In 1959, Vinnie Vacarri, a 27-year-old waiter at his brother's Italian restaurant, pursues his dream of making it big in the music business. He teams up with his friend Gino, a pianist, and seeks out talented musicians to perform their songs. Vinnie reinvents his friend Tomaso as rock singer Tommy Dee and a shy busboy, Guido, as Caesare. As talent manager, Vinnie sacrifices his own life to achieve success, but his acts become consumed by their own personal issues and the trappings of fame.
The Idolmaker
The biographical drama film is inspired by the real-life story of Bob Marcucci, a pioneering rock promoter and producer who played a crucial role in launching the careers of iconic musicians Frankie Avalon and Fabian.
