In the 1883 Dakota Territory, a former buffalo hunter named Sandy McKenzie seeks a change, only to be approached by Charlie Gilson, a ruthless man who derives pleasure from killing buffalos and Indians. They form an alliance, hiring skilled skinner Woodfoot and half-Indian Jimmy O'Brien to aid them.
