In the 1970s, South Korean actor Choi Eun-hee and her ex-husband, film director Shin Sang-ok, were struggling with their careers and personal lives. They were kidnapped by North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, who wanted to use them to improve his country's film industry and break free from propaganda. The couple, now slaves, secretly gathered evidence of Kim's crimes while pretending to cooperate. As they plotted their escape, they rediscovered their love and waited for the perfect moment to flee.
