The Matinee Idol

A charismatic Broadway star, known for his controversial performances in blackface, escapes his past by adopting a new persona and joining a community theater group, only to find himself smitten with the troupe's leading lady.

Don Wilson, a famous comedian, flees his adoring fans by taking on a new identity, Harry Mann. He accidentally joins a traveling acting troupe and falls for the troupe's leader, Ginger Bolivar, who stars in their Civil War drama.
