Anna, a detached filmmaker, travels to Germany to showcase her latest work. She checks into a hotel, then unexpectedly invites a stranger to her room and abruptly asks him to leave. The stranger invites her to a birthday lunch with his mother and daughter, which she attends. In Cologne, she reunites with an old friend, a Polish Jew who survived the war as a refugee. She then spends the night with her mother in Brussels, whom she rarely sees. On the train, a stranger shares his life story with her. Eventually, Anna returns to Paris, where her lover Daniel awaits her at the hotel. Throughout her journey, people open up to her, sharing intimate stories, while Anna listens with a stoic expression. Despite the passage of time, the war's lingering presence is palpable.
