Three prisoners, Chickamaw, T-Dub, and Bowie, escape from prison. Bowie, who was wrongly convicted of murder at 16, joins Chickamaw and T-Dub's heists to earn money for a lawyer to clear his name. They hide out with Chickamaw's brother Mobley, who has an alcoholic daughter Keechie. Bowie and Keechie form a bond, romantic and emotional, and dream of a life together.
