On Staten Island in 1956, Buddy, a hopeful entrepreneur, purchases a house with his wife Estelle, intending to run a bar downstairs and live upstairs. However, his plans are soon derailed by a series of challenges, including his wife's self-doubt, recalcitrant Irish tenants, and a surprising revelation about the baby's father.
