Two car enthusiasts, The Driver and The Mechanic, embark on a road trip through the American Southwest, driving a 1955 Chevy and seeking out rival cars to race. They're a pair of obsessive petrolheads who communicate only when necessary, their focus solely on the open road. Along the way, they meet a charming young woman who joins their crew, as well as G.T.O., a charismatic but unreliable storyteller. The group decides to stage a high-stakes race to Washington, D.C., with the winner claiming the loser's prized vehicle.
