Uncertain Glory background

Uncertain Glory

A notorious criminal proposes a daring exchange: he will surrender himself to the Nazis in place of 100 hostages who are about to face execution.

During World War II, Jean Picard, a criminal, escapes execution by the guillotine when an air raid interrupts his sentencing. He's recaptured by Inspector Bonet, who brings him back to face justice. However, they learn that a crucial railway bridge was destroyed, and the Germans are holding 100 Frenchmen hostage, demanding the saboteurs come forward. Picard, who prefers death by firing squad over the guillotine, offers to pose as the saboteur to save the hostages.
