A ruthless outlaw forges a Spanish land grant, and Arnold sets his sights on acquiring it. He and his gang launch a surprise attack, killing the forger and seizing the deed. Despite Russ's valiant efforts to intervene, Arnold and his men succeed in taking the document. With the deed seemingly authentic, Arnold presents it at the recorder's office and begins evicting innocent ranchers from their land. However, Russ's suspicions are piqued when he recognizes one of Arnold's men as a former foe from a past battle.
