Hal Weston arrives in Los Angeles to find his ex-wife Nora Petrie, whose husband, Petrie, a former partner in their import business, has just died. Weston soon discovers that Petrie was involved in smuggling and that Nora was a drug addict. He also learns that Nora's passport picture belongs to another woman and that Petrie's death certificate was falsified. After being attacked and accused of murdering Dr. Sheng, Weston uncovers the truth: Petrie killed Nora, bribed officials to fake his own death, and hired a woman to impersonate her.
