Two Zygon aliens, Commander Kritakh and his second Torlakh, have been living on Earth for 20 years, recreating their own world. However, Kritakh, disguised as engineer Mike Kirkwood, has lost his sense of purpose. His second, disguised as mass murderer Bob Calhoun, tries to help him regain his direction. Meanwhile, a psychiatrist, Dr. Lauren Anderson, is drawn to her desires before facing her greatest challenge.
