Struggling author Robert Sandell agrees to undergo experiments by Dr. Lamb in exchange for financial support and medical aid for his ailing mother. Despite warnings, Robert submits to the procedures, only to discover Dr. Lamb's true intention: to prove the theory of evolution by transforming humans into ape-like creatures. However, before the doctor can proceed, a hunchbacked assistant releases an ape-man, who kills Dr. Lamb.
