A dysfunctional family embarks on a vacation to the XCaret resort in Playa de Carmen, Mexico, after a decade apart. The family consists of a frustrated Chilean wife, a lesbian daughter, a pothead daughter, and a nerd virgin son. During their trip, the family's patriarch, Gonzalo, learns he is terminal and struggles to reveal the news to his loved ones, instead telling his wife he needs to travel for business. He leaves the hotel and sets off alone, meeting a Cuban stranger named Usnavy who helps him return to the resort. Meanwhile, a hurricane is approaching, and the family is trapped in their hotel room, leading to a series of revelations and confrontations.
