A young man, Jeff Marx, is determined to pursue a career in medicine, but his academic performance doesn't qualify him for an American medical program. He receives an unexpected opportunity to study abroad in a small Latin American country ruled by the authoritarian leader, Ramon Madera. Meanwhile, Jeff's girlfriend, also a medical student, catches the eye of the ruthless dictator, setting off a complex web of relationships and power struggles.
