In 1917, Russia's February Revolution drastically altered life and the course of World War I. With the monarch abdicating, Bolsheviks in the trenches aggressively spread propaganda, urging peace with Germany. Russian officers were powerless without approval from Soldiers Committees, and the army teetered on collapse. In response, the Russian Provisional Government established the female Death Battalion, led by Maria Bochkareva, a Cavalier of St. George. The Battalion inspired courage, fortitude, and composure, revitalizing the soldiers' spirit and proving each female hero worthy of the Warrior Title.
