When Martha and her daughter Cindy return to the ranch, they bring back memories of their late father. Scott and his uncle welcome them home, but things take a turn when Daniel, Scott's cousin, returns with his friend Roy and a group of wild horses. Daniel threatens to kill one of the stallions, Midnight, but Scott buys the horse and decides to tame it. As Scott works to calm Midnight, Cindy develops feelings for Daniel, but her mother reveals his lazy nature, causing Cindy to turn against Scott. Meanwhile, the sheriff becomes suspicious of Roy and the brand on Daniel's horses, leading to a confrontation that ends with Roy's death. Scott rides away on Midnight to protect the horse from Bill, who is about to shoot it. With Cindy's help, Scott hides Midnight and nurses its wounds back to health. In the end, the sheriff clears Bill's name, and Scott's friendship with his uncle is restored.
