Five children on horseback take a forbidden path and meet two strangers who give them money and secrets. The strangers learn about Lucy, a prized mare belonging to a sheep farmer, and his three children. However, the strangers are actually horse thieves, and when Lucy and her foal go missing, the children suspect foul play. Determined to recover the stolen horses, the children devise a plan to track down the thieves and bring them to justice.
