Fiona Wagner, a journalism student, is still haunted by her mother's suicide at the Crescent Hotel three years prior. Her father, Detective Tom Wagner, is investigating the brutal murder of lawyer Elliot Vincent, whose daughter was forced to make a horrific choice between killing her father or losing her entire family. As Tom delves deeper into the case, he discovers a pattern of attacks by a sadistic serial killer who forces victims to make impossible choices. Meanwhile, Fiona receives cryptic messages from the killer, who refers to himself as ISO_17, and she becomes obsessed with uncovering his true identity and motivations.
