Die goldene Gans background

Die goldene Gans

A princess in a mystical realm falls under a mysterious curse, leaving her unable to laugh. Her grieving father, the king, offers half his kingdom and his daughter's hand in marriage to anyone who can restore her joy.

Klaus, a kind and hardworking cobbler, lives with his brothers in a small village. After his brothers mistreat an old woman and refuse her request for help, Klaus meets her and offers her his own meager meal, which is transformed into a feast. As a reward, he receives a magical golden goose that can stick together anyone who is greedy, nosy, or envious. Klaus's subsequent journey attracts a strange and motley group, including a princess who is delighted by his antics. The king, impressed by Klaus's skills and kindness, agrees to let him marry the princess, despite his poverty.
