In the movie, Sarah, a woman with a strained relationship with her mother and a long-distance boyfriend Peter, is diagnosed with a terminal illness. She undergoes cloning and a double is created, designed to learn and become more like her over time. As Sarah goes into remission, her double becomes increasingly similar, but her loved ones begin to prefer the double over her.
