A group of raw recruits from Kentucky, known as the Hatfield clan, are tasked with training under Sergeant "Dodo" Doubleday, who has a photographic memory. Meanwhile, a respected citizen named Arnold Benedict opens a canteen for the soldiers, but unbeknownst to them, he is a German spy.
