Two Canadian Mounties, Corporal Rod Webb and Constable Mike Kelly, are sent to investigate the murder of a trapper and illegal beaver pelt deals in the Blackfoot Crossing country. Mike, a rookie, is thrilled to be back in his hometown and reunites with his childhood sweetheart Sandra Dubois. The undercover officers track down the illegal trappers, led by Morgan, Howell, and Cheval, and gather evidence at a trading post. However, Mike is killed during a surprise encounter with the gang. Rod closes the case by revealing the leader's true identity and arrests the others, with the help of his loyal dog Chinook.
