Matthew Fogg, a sociopath, joins a study at a university hospital to experience emotions and feelings. Led by Dr. Maggie O'Shea, the study aims to give sociopaths empathy. Matthew shows great progress and begins to feel emotions, including guilt, anger, and compassion. However, Dr. O'Shea's motives are revealed when she discovers a photo of her late sister and Matthew together, leading her to suspect him of her sister's murder. She begins to manipulate Matthew, causing his treatment to degrade and his behavior to become erratic.
