A disabled Vietnam War veteran returns to Saigon in search of his Vietnamese mistress and their half-breed child, with whom he had a close bond. Despite his struggles to find work in the States, he returns to Vietnam to learn the fate of his loved ones, especially his child who has green eyes. Along the way, he befriends a young street hustler who helps him on a journey of self-discovery and redemption, confronting the consequences of the war and his own personal demons.
