Mackenzie, a 14-year-old girl, travels with her father to visit his sister in a quirky small town in South Georgia, where she is forced to participate in the town's Christmas traditions, including "Duck Days". Along the way, she meets a young boy named Tyler and they encounter Santa, who is not at his usual post. Mackenzie is skeptical of Christmas and reveals her only wish is to meet her mother, who died during childbirth.
