The film begins with Saketh Ram as an old man, flashing back to his life as a young man. He's married to Aparna, a Bengali woman, and they're surrounded by friends. However, the impending independence of India from British rule is complicated by religious tensions between Hindus and Muslims. Saketh's life takes a devastating turn when his wife is brutally raped and killed by Muslim rioters, leading him to become consumed by a desire for revenge against Muslims. He joins a group of Hindu extremists and becomes embroiled in a plot to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi, who is seen as too conciliatory towards Muslims. As Saketh navigates his newfound extremism, he's forced to confront his own loyalties and morals. The film culminates in a shocking twist, departing from the expected outcome.
