In the film, a former race driver turned nitroglycerin hauler, "Buzz" Mitchell, is hired by his friend Mike Douglas, the owner of a nitroglycerin concern. Despite being banned from racing, "Buzz" uses his skills to transport nitro, while also making moves on Mike's girlfriend and fiancée of his brother-in-law. After Jimmy, the brother-in-law, is killed in an accident, "Buzz" finds a way to redeem himself through a difficult journey.
