Two brothers, Clark and Victor Duryea, run a jewelry store in San Francisco's Chinatown that doubles as a front for stealing and fencing stolen goods. When Clark's wife, Myra, discovers their illegal operation and threatens to leave him, he murders her and hides her body. Her sister, Gloria Watkins, arrives in San Francisco to visit Myra, only to find her missing and sets out to uncover the truth, with the help of a tour-bus driver and his friend, who aspires to be a private detective.
