In the small town of Sainte-Severe-sur-Indre, the annual fair comes to town for one day, and all the inhabitants are teasing François, the postman, who seems oblivious to their jokes. Despite a close call with the flagstaff, everyone praises his important work. However, François remains skeptical and, after getting drunk, is convinced to watch a stunt show disguised as a US postal delivery demonstration. The next day, still reeling from his hangover, François reorganizes his own delivery methods, inspired by the ideals he saw in the film, using only his bicycle to make humorous progress.
