Young English refugee Freddie Hewlett saves the life of Jimmie Fletcher, a wild boy from the streets, during a fight with a juvenile gang leader. Freddie takes Jimmie to his uncle's ranch, where he helps him turn his life around. They attend the prestigious Pearson Military School, where Jimmie's love of engines inspires the gift of an airplane to the school. However, Jimmie's academic struggles and subsequent theft of a test prompt him to leave school and return to his old gang. When the gang plans to steal the school plane, Jimmie is forced to lead them, but ultimately fights them off with the help of his schoolmates.
