A man's ordinary existence is dramatically disrupted when his spouse uncovers a hidden cache of women's garments in their residence, setting off a series of unexpected outcomes.

A yuppie-like transvestite named Gerald is forced out of his marriage and home after his wife discovers his secret. He moves in with a recently divorced woman named Monica, and their relationship evolves from landlady and tenant to lovers. Monica learns to understand and support Gerald's alter-ego, Geraldine, as he navigates the ups and downs of his transvestitism with humor and respect.
