In a mystical space, women gather, uncertain if they're in Purgatory or not. Two young women, an actress and a psychologist, witness the final days of their lives on a TV screen. Both are having extramarital affairs, and each has a significant encounter with her lover's wife in a ladies' room - one backstage at a play and the other at an opera house. The relationships between the pairs of women take unexpected turns, as a sylph poses thought-provoking questions to the two young women as they watch.
