In 19th-century Paris, a charismatic red-haired singer known as "Laughing Anne" captivates audiences at an upscale nightclub, while her complicated relationship with Jen Farrell reaches a boiling point following a intense argument.

In this movie, a beautiful singer known as "Laughing Anne" falls in love with a fighter named Jen Farrell, but their relationship is complicated when Farrell's fight is fixed and he becomes injured. Anne and Farrell drift to the East, where Anne becomes a singer in seedy bars and meets a captain who falls in love with her. However, Anne leaves the captain to return to Farrell, and years later, the captain finds her again in a jungle settlement, where she is living with Farrell and their young son. The captain offers to take Anne and her son away, but Farrell has other plans and seeks to steal the captain's valuable cargo.
