The movie tells the story of Schlomo, a young boy who was adopted by a Jewish family in Israel after being secretly brought there from Ethiopia with his mother. Schlomo struggles with his identity and racism, falling in love with Sarah but facing opposition from her racist father. He tries to prove himself as a "real Jew" through a Bible interpretation competition, but ultimately decides to reveal the truth about his identity to Sarah.
