Ilmar and Aldo López-Gavilán, virtuoso Afro-Cuban musician brothers, were born in Havana in the 1970s. Ilmar was sent to the U.S.S.R. to study violin at 14, never returning to Cuba, while Aldo grew up in Cuba, mentored by renowned pianists, but was restricted by the U.S. embargo. Despite occasional reunions, they never collaborated musically until they finally performed together on stages across the U.S.
